Access To Recovery

Access to Recovery (ATR) is a three year competitive discretionary grant program funded by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT). ATR is an initiative which provides vouchers to clients for purchase of substance abuse clinical treatment and recovery support services. The goals of the program are to expand capacity, support client choice, and increase the array of faith-based and community based providers for clinical treatment and recovery support services. In 2007, twenty four grantees were awarded an ATR grant after a competitive application process. The program is funded at approximately $98 million per year of which $25 million is set aside to be used to deliver services to individuals with a background of methamphetamine use.
